Guayabo is a very interesting ancient city located in Eastern Costa Rica on the slopes of Volcan Turrialba. Visit http://www.lostcities.us/guayabo for the most detailed website available!
What make Guayabo especially unique is that is was both a major population center in a region not known for them, and an incredibly vast network of coble stone roads stretching hundreds, and possible thousands of linear kilometers in length. The city itself also had an extraordinary system of aquaducts, that once uncovered began to function again, as though a thousand years had not passed.
In many respects, Guayabo had characteristics of both Mayan AND Incan engineering. Yet, there is insufficient evidence of large scale connections with either. Guayabo is yet another of the numerous enigmas of ancient America!
