One of the things about the subject of archaeology is the degree of wild fantastical speculation on the part of the public, and so called "experts". While we have differing views, archaeologist seek the truth from the evidence. The recent movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (which I refused to be a consultant on) is the perfect example of ignoring the fact, in favor of pure fantasy (see my review on
Archaeology At The Movies). So please participate with an open mind, but remember, there are no extraterrestrials depicted in Maya glyphs, the Nazca lines WERE created by ordinary humans, the Aztecs practiced one of the most blood-thirsty religions on the planet, and crystal skulls are frauds (though not all crystal artifacts are). Some legends prove true, some do not - but the key to them all is proof!
